Oklahoma Fall Color: Part 2

Photobucket

A truly bright colored plant that adorns our Oklahoma landscape during the fall months is Smooth Sumac.
This species of sumac is actually found across much of the United States and the variations of red, orange, and...I've even seen fuschia colored leaves...give our countryside and pastures that extra splash of color in our Autumn landscapes.
I personally find that Smooth Sumac is that welcomed bright spot in the Fall foliage comparable even to the flowering Eastern Redbud  in the Spring.
So, if I may ask, what do you enjoy about this particular season?
I've put a poll in the margin out of curiosity. Please participate if you have time.
Fall is a wonderful time to get out and enjoy the beauty of our Lord's creation.
Be refreshed! Julie

I LOVE the fall colors! We don't get a lot since we're so far south, but I take what I can get. My oldest daughter still brings me brightly colored leaves from her fall walks.

Great shot, by the way! =D

Where we live, the color BROWN is a fall color, as well as a winter, spring and summer color. :D
I LOVE the fall everywhere else, especially how the sky seems to turn a deeper blue.

Julie, I got your comment but saved it for an email. It's in progress.

The foliage is breath taking at times, I agree. I do battle the leaves when they fall to the ground! That is the only downside I can think of fall.

I enjoy the cooler nights, warm afternoons, and dark green colors that slowly turn red. Two quilts on the bed with the windows open, pulling the winter clothes out of the attic to see what still fits the boys, and soccer games.

Hi Julie,

I agree with all above. I voted for football, but to tell the truth, I love the cool weather, the colors, Thanksgiving, cooking big pots of chili, just the entire season of fall, I love it all.
Neat poll.

Given that true fall is a rarity around here, I'm having to think about what I enjoy in falls past (smile). Here's what I enjoy:

Without doubt, the fall leaves.

Cool mornings that beg a cup of coffee or hot tea.

Watching the puppy outside with no concerns of sweating.

Migrating birds at the feeder.

Hummingbirds at our Mexican firebrushes, planted especially for them and the butterflies.

Walking through the zoo (again without sweating).

Snuggling with hubby in a chilly morning bed right before greeting the day.

You, your blog, and these gorgeous pictures. Thanks for sharing.

The fragrance of fall is beyond a doubt my favorite thing as the weather turns cooler and the leaves become glorious.
I just want to breath deeply all the time and sometimes I even come close to hyperventilating. LOL
